Bazaars are said to play a vital role in stabilizing markets by directly connecting producers with consumers, creating opportunities to promote their products, and ensuring continuity of supply.
In collaboration, the Lemmi Kura Sub‑City Trade Office, Labor and Skills Office, Cooperative Office, Urban Agriculture and Farmers Office, and the Industry Development Office officially opened a trade bazaar in Woreda 14 at Yeka Abado Meskel Square, organized in celebration of the upcoming Christmas holiday.
The bazaar was formally inaugurated by Deputy Mayor Maereg and Mr. Million Matewos, Head of the Addis Ababa Labor and Skills Bureau. According to Mr. Million, bazaars held at different times directly link producers with buyers, making producers beneficiaries, stabilizing markets, easing the burden of high living costs, and enabling communities to access products nearby at fair prices, especially during holiday seasons.
City administration officials further explained that various efforts are underway to expand market alternatives and increase product supply, thereby strengthening market stability. They emphasized that by bringing products directly from farmers and producers to the marketplace, unnecessary price hikes during holidays can be avoided.
The bazaar will remain open for five consecutive days starting today.
